The Eugene L. Noth ’65 Endowed Scholarship
Native of Libertyville, Illinois, Eugene “Gene” Noth graduated from Carroll University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and physics—disciplines that would shape his lifelong career in engineering and computer technology
Gene built a distinguished career as a software engineer in the aerospace industry, working for more than 30 years in Los Angeles with TRW Systems, now part of Northrop Grumman Space & Mission Systems Corp.. As part of the missile and space division, he contributed to significant advancements in aerospace technology during a transformative era in American space exploration. During the historic moon landing in July 1969, Gene was stationed in Australia, where he provided aid and support to the NASA team involved in the mission.
Following his retirement, Gene lived a quiet and private life in California until his passing in March 2016. His legacy, however, continues through his generosity and commitment to education.
The Eugene L. Noth ’65 Endowed Scholarship Fund at Carroll University supports students pursuing engineering, computer science and related degrees, honoring Gene’s accomplished career in the aerospace and technology industries while helping future generations pursue their academic and professional goals.

Amount of Scholarship
The recipients of the Noth Scholarship will receive a scholarship benefit each year for four years. The amount of this scholarship will range from $1,000 - $5,000 each year, based on the applicant’s qualifications. The recipient will be eligible for additional Carroll scholarships or grants.
Conditions of Eligibility
- The applicant must be a high school senior who has been accepted to Carroll University as a full-time student for fall 2027.
- The applicant must intend to pursue a degree in one of the following approved majors in artificial intelligence, computer science, drone engineering, industrial engineering, information technology, or mechanical engineering.
- The recipient of the Sullivan Business Scholarship must maintain a 3.0 GPA in all accredited courses.
Conditions of Competition for First-Year Applicants
- All application materials must be received on or before January 4, 2027.
- The applicant must possess an outstanding academic record from high school and show strong potential for the same high achievement at the college level. Extracurricular activities and leadership experiences will also be considered.
- Finalists will be selected by the scholarship committee for a mandatory on-campus interview. Finalists must be in attendance on Saturday, February 13, 2027, to be eligible for the scholarship.
- The recipients will be selected by a Scholarship Selection Committee after careful review of the credentials of all candidates.
