Barbra Beck-Clayton

Dr. Beck grew up in rural Iowa and Wisconsin. Prior to working at Carroll University, she worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Public Health Training and Education Coordinator for the Population Health Institute at the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Beck's hobbies and interests include traveling and spending time with her family biking, boating and hiking.

Recently received $10,000 HWPP grant and $40,000 from private foundations to develop a free, online toolkit—one that transcends the current political divide—with program, research and best-practices guides, open-source database and resources to help mobilize communities around the issue of gun violence.

• Participated on several faculty search committees
• Service to the Department of Health and Medicine and Public Health Program: write annual public health program assessment report; chair department faculty; annual faculty assessment committee; faculty advisory for public health student organization
• Service to profession: member of Waukesha County Community Health Improvement Process and Plan (CHIPP) Steering Committee; currently serve and early career mentor for Wisconsin Public Health Association

• Received the Department of Community Medicine Community Partnership Recognition Award from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2004
• Received the Wisconsin Public Health Association Special Achievement in Public Health Partnership Award in 2003
