College of Health Sciences

This complete renovation will create a modern, state-of-the-art learning environment while preserving a community landmark. The renovated building is slated to house the expansion of the College of Health Sciences and graduate Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physician Assistant (PA) classes. To prepare the current building for students, an overhaul is required, including the construction of new classrooms and labs, featuring an “apartment” lab focused on training OT students how to coach patients through daily living activities, such as eating, bathing and dressing.

The facility will include expanded classrooms, laboratories and clinical spaces that foster hands-on learning, research, clinical placements and collaboration across health disciplines for students. Currently, 48% of all students are enrolled in health sciences or health profession-related programs. As demand for nurses, therapists and allied health providers continues to rise, this project will prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders through expanded clinical training, innovative classrooms and community-based programs. Recognizing that Wisconsin’s population over age 65 is rapidly growing and driving higher healthcare use, these experiences will prepare graduates to meet the rising demand for highly skilled healthcare professionals into the future.

In addition, the facility will house the dedicated home of one of Carroll’s fastest growing majors: Animal Behavior. The project will include the creation of outdoor and indoor training areas to provide a comprehensive environment for practical learning. To deliver the best experience for both dogs and students, a dedicated instructional space is being developed. This area will be easily accessible, enabling students to use it for classes, training, assignments and enrichment activities outside the classroom. The expanded space will feature outdoor fencing and indoor resources to extend the exercise and play area for the dogs. The creation of indoor and outdoor spaces dedicated to dog training and instruction will create a dynamic learning environment that benefits both the animals involved and the students who are pursuing careers in the field of animal behavior and welfare.

The project strengthens access to care for the Waukesha community through Carroll’s Therapeutic Abilities Clinic (TAC) and Carroll University Rehabilitation Exercise (CURE) program, which provide low-cost or no-cost rehabilitative and wellness services to local residents. The new space will also allow for stronger partnerships with healthcare providers, schools and local organizations—directly improving health outcomes while supporting economic growth. In addition, this project will benefit students by elevating their educational experience and benefit the community by expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care.
