Jeffrey M. Waller '73
2005 P.E. MacAllister Distinguished Alumnus Award for Service to Carroll
Service and involvement was an important part of Jeff’s experience during his student
tenure. While earning a degree in accounting, Jeffrey M. Waller '73 was a member of
the Delta Rho Upsilon fraternity, participated in student government, served on the
administrative committee, and worked as a Resident Assistant and Head Resident. He
was also a recipient of the Junior Award, and a member of Delta Sigma Nu.
Shortly following graduation, he joined SC Johnson in the cost management and finance
area. His focus on operational financial support positions included Group Controller-Johnson
Outdoors, 1984-85; Director-Cost Management, 1987-89; Regional Controller-Asia, 1990-93;
Director of Finance-North America, 1994-96; Vice President-Corporate Controller, 1997-2001
and Vice President-Human Resources, Asia Region, 2002-present.
He was elected to the Carroll Board of Trustees in 2000 and served on the Board’s
Student Life Committee. In addition to his Board service, he also played an instrumental
role in strengthening the department of business administration and economics (BAE).
As a member of the Business Advisory Council since its inception, Jeff facilitated
the development of the department’s initial five-year strategic plan, and provided
valuable insight to guide the continued growth and expansion of the program.
Jeff assisted the department’s faculty by working on the development of a speaker’s
bureau that links BAC member expertise with specific course topics inviting relevant
business managers and leaders to the classroom to share their knowledge and experience.
This program helped bridge business and management theory with real world work applications
and advice for current students.
A featured speaker at Carroll's annual Career Day, Waller has been a mentor to several
students and has provided internships. He also has demonstrated an exceptional level
of community service, particularly in areas that serve youth and teens. He has received
several awards, including the Racine Council on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse's Volunteer
of the Year in 1998 and the Racine County Economic Development Corporation's Volunteer
of the Year in 1999.
Waller has been a strong advocate and leader not only for the students of the BAE,
but also its faculty. In 2002, he hosted a tour of SC Johnson and arranged for a series
of information sharing meetings between SC Johnson personnel and Carroll faculty.
In addition, he has served as a mentor to numerous business students and provided
numerous internship experiences.
Jeff currently serves on Carroll’s President’s Advisory Council. He lives in Racine,
Wis. with his wife Linda.
