Wisconsin ACE-Interface Network

Across the state of Wisconsin, professionals are trained to educate on the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the long-term effects on life-long health. Our network of trainers are available to give free trainings to anyone in the state that is interested in learning more about this important topic.

This science-informed, evidence-based curriculum walks people through what is called NEAR Science:

• How toxic stress and trauma affect the brain (Neurobiology)
• How the impact of early adversity and trauma can be transmitted from one generation to the next (Epigenetics)
• More in-depth information about the findings from the original study (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
• How to build strength and capacity in individuals and communities (Resilience)

This training can be customized to the audience and timeframe (between one to four hours depending on desired outcomes) and is offered free of charge. Our network of trainers are able to deliver the training in-person or virtually.

The Wisconsin ACE-Interface Network has been previously managed by Wellpoint and is now coordinated by Dr. Patrick Grayshaw, Assistant Professor of Public Health. Dr. Grayshaw has extensive research in Adverse Childhood Experiences, their lifelong effects on health, and ways communities can come together to address those challenges through dialogue, deliberation, and civic engagement.

ACE-Interface was created by Dr. Rob Anda, the Co-Principal Investigator of the ACE Study and Laura Porter, a public servant who has expertise in building community capacity to address the potential negative effects of ACEs on community health.
