Biography

Brittany Liermann is a board-certified music therapist whose clinical work has supported children and adults with developmental disabilities, adults with neurologic diseases and injuries, and people of all ages with terminal illnesses. Throughout her professional career, Liermann has mentored clinical practicum students and supervised music therapy interns. She maintains the designation of Neurologic Music Therapist, which is endorsed by the World Federation of Neurorehabilitation. Additionally, she has researched and presented on a variety of topics including the application of music therapy in supporting veterans with combat-induced traumatic brain injury, the experience of flow states in music improvisation, maintaining wellness through music, preventing caregiver burnout, the integration of music therapy into dementia care programs, and the role of music therapy in hospice and palliative care.

What is your teaching style?

I strive to establish a supportive, trusting environment in which people actively engage in learning without hesitation. Students can expect to engage in a variety of written work, group discussion, and lectures along with both teacher and student-led experientials and demonstrations.
