Summer Camps

Join us for Carroll University’s Prairie Springs Environmental Education Center and Greene Field Station’s nature-based summer camps. All camps sessions include indoor and outdoor activities and provide a unique combination of content-rich programming and complementary games and crafts. All programs are designed to encourage the curiosity of the natural world, allow exploration of natural areas, and promote a sense of stewardship in the next generation.

Get ready to uncover the natural water wonders of Genesee Creek and the springs of the Greene Field Station as you become a Water Detective! Get off the beaten path and join us for this week of outdoor adventures!  Learn how to identify the plants and animals that call southeast Wisconsin home. Learn about the uniqueness of Genesee Creek, the impacts of invasive species, and the importance of interconnectedness in our local ecosystems. We’ll explore the Greene Field Station property as well as take a few adventures off-site to make some comparisons and learn how to live more responsibly. It’ll be a week to remember.

Pioneer Rangers Program

Summer camp students doing outdoor activity

Date: CANCELLED for 2021 SEASON
Time: Time varies per camp
Ages: 12-17
Cost: Free (Limited positions available)

Returning this year, we will be offering the opportunity for students aged 12-17 to serve as mentors and assistants in the Water Detectives and Outdoor Adventurers summer camps. Rangers must commit to helping for at least three days of a camp and will receive instructions and training from the Prairie Springs educators before that camp begins. This is a great option to get to have fun outside while building useful skills.
