After the final applause at Carroll’s commencement ceremony dies down, many graduates excitedly begin to wonder, “Where will my degree take me?” For Carroll alumnus Michael Ameel ’15, his organizational leadership and marketing degree landed him a position with one of the biggest corporations in Hollywood: Paramount Pictures.

Ameel works in the Digital Marketing department as an assistant manager, overseeing global digital marketing campaigns for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming theatrical releases.

As one can imagine, it’s a job filled with amazing opportunities. “One of my favorite campaigns I had the privilege working on was for the break-out film called 'A Quiet Place',” said Ameel when asked about his most exciting marketing campaign. He also mentioned developing a high-performing mobile game, working on a Transformers spin-off film called "Bumblebee" and marketing the campaign for the Elton John bio-picture/fantasy musical "Rocketman".

Examining the many foundations of his success, Ameel discussed how a Carroll education prepared him for his post graduate life. “Carroll gave me the opportunity to lead, which in return gave me confidence to follow my dream of working in Hollywood.”

Carroll’s cultivation of student leadership and integrity isn’t the only positive influence Ameel credited. He spoke highly of Carroll’s Cross-Cultural Experience program and the benefits of his study abroad experience.

“Studying abroad in London was the most impactful moment of my Carroll education. While abroad, I was able to backpack around Europe which got me interested in the international landscape. Working at Paramount, I’ve had the opportunity to travel internationally, most recently Cape Town, South Africa where I managed social media influencers on the set of a film.”

Ameel also had a few words for Carroll students who are interested in working in the entertainment or digital marketing industry, though his advice could truly extend to any student seeking success after graduation. “Study abroad. Become a Resident Assistant. Get an internship. Work hard. Follow your dreams. Never give up.”

Simple and honest, his advice serves as both an outline for student success and as a representation of the integral Carroll experience.
