Carroll University has received $300,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) to create programming that works toward reducing sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking on campus.

The three-year grant allows the university to customize its programming in the areas that are of most need to the institution. A project coordinator and graduate assistant will be hired and utilize a campus climate survey to assess those needs.

"This grant will help us enhance the education and resources needed to ensure the campus community has the necessary tools to prevent and/or report acts of interpersonal violence on campus," said Abby Meddaugh, director of student conduct.

As part of the focus on campus and community engagement, Carroll will work with The Women's Center of Waukesha and Waukesha Police Department to help train campus staff including first responders, Title IX investigators and public safety officers in comprehensive interpersonal violence response training.
