Carroll receives $10,000 grant from Presbyterian Church

WAUKESHA, WIS.— Carroll University has received a $10,000 grant from the Presbyterian Church’s Synod of Lakes and Prairies.

In its award letter, the synod urged Carroll to “use these funds for work that will support the goals we have established for collegiate ministry,” including:

  • Encouraging biblical and theological literacy.
  • Increasing awareness and understanding of the Presbyterian and Reformed identity.
  • Strengthening relationships between colleges, churches and the Presbyterian Church USA.
  • Fostering ecumenical or interfaith understanding.
  • Raising broad multi-cultural awareness.
  • Building community and facilitating networking.
  • Raising the visibility of collegiate ministry.

Carroll will use part of the funds to send a team of five – Chaplain Bill Humphreys, Associate Professor of History Kimberly Redding and three students – to the collegiate consultation on peacemaking, sponsored by the PCUSA in Montreat, N.C., Jan. 18-20, 2013. Grant funds also will cover the cost of Carroll’s institutional membership in the Council of Independent Colleges program netVUE – network for Values in Undergraduate Education – and a trip for three to the annual netVUE conference in Indianapolis in March 2013.
