MSN - Nurse Educator

Carroll University's Master of Science in Nursing degree with a Nurse Educator focus (MSN-NE) is a 40 credit program designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and experiences you'll need to step into a rewarding career as a nurse educator in both the academic and/or the clinical practice setting. This advanced degree will provide you with the tools you need to develop, implement and evaluate nursing curricula that prepares entry-level nurses for practice. It will also ensure you’re ready to mentor practicing nurses to provide the highest level of care.

Eight-week courses meet one night per week, beginning in the fall
Hybrid delivery with online and in-person courses
Clinical education may be completed in your current work setting
Educational practicum may be completed with the nursing faculty at the University

Improve Clinical Expertise

Advanced courses in pharmacology, physical examination and pathophysiology prepare nurse educators with the latest clinical knowledge, skills and methodologies. Education in health care informatics provides skills in using data and technology systems to inform patient care through effective treatment and efficient practices. Evidence-based research projects provide additional expertise in developing procedures and solving complex problems.

Prepare for Certification

Carroll University MSN-NE graduates will be eligible to sit for the CNE or CNE-cl examinations offered by the National League for Nursing (NLN).

These certifications establish nursing education as a specialty area of practice and create a means for academic faculty and nurse educators to demonstrate their expertise in this role, communicating the highest standards of excellence in the profession are being met.
