Priscilla (Gentz) Sturm
What have you been up to since graduation? Advanced degree? Jobs? Changes? Hobbies?
Went to California, married my high school sweetheart, worked 30 years as a research chemist in drug development at SRI International in Menlo Park retiring in 1994 due to fibromyalgia. Now enjoy neighbors, family and friends, our home and garden, reading mystery, history, environmental issues, helping with church activities.
Married? Spouse/Significant Other's Name and occupation? Children? Names/ages?
Spouse Albert H Sturm, retired from United Airlines(mechanic, inspector); children Matthew (50) with Web Sense, an internet security firm, and Anne(44), an engineer in the San Francisco office of the Army Corps of Engineers. Neither are married and there are no grandchildren!
What is your most vivid memory from your years at Carroll?
Being foolish enough to sign out for the 'hill' as a destination, being foolish enough to volunteer my dream for interpretation in Mr Van Haitsma's English class, rooming with three wonderful gals in the bowels of Voorhees Sophomore yr., great experience of being housemother to a wing of freshman girls (Do Junior gals still do that?), working summers in the chemistry dept for Dr Sunier, and loving all school sing.
Which professors influenced your life?
Dr. Sunier and what I perceived as his reservations about participation in the Manhattan project, Dr Bayer and his insistence on understanding as opposed to memorization, and Dr Christoph for his dynamic teaching personality.
