What have you been up to since graduation? Advanced degree? Jobs? Changes? Hobbies?
After graduating from Carroll I went to UW Law School from which I graduated in 1966. I became labor and employment lawyer representing management. For 45 years I practiced with the lawfirm that is currently known at Melli Law, S.C. in Madison, Wisconsin. Two years ago the young litigators in that law firm left, setting up their own law firm in Madison and affiliating with the Atlanta-based firm, Constangy Brooks & Smith, LLP. A few months later, they asked me to join them, which I did. I am still practicing law, trying to get it right. I enjoy reading and playing golf and am in the process of taking up fly fishing.
Married? Spouse/Significant Other's Name and occupation? Children? Names/ages?
I was married to Judy Lampman Pease for about 25 years. We had two children. David was a competitive swimmer who graduated from the University of Southern California, got a masters degree from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and then his Phd in Biomechanic from the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand (quite a story including testing the controversial Speedo Lazor Swim Suits). He is now with the Aquatic Unit of the Australian Institute of Sports. He is married with two daughters. Our daughter Kim graduated from Boston University with a degree in French and is currently in the United States Foreign Service, having just completed an assignment in Zambia and is currently in training for an assignment in the Philippines. She is married with one son.
What is your most vivid memory from your years at Carroll?
I fondly remember the good times we had at the Hillers, water balloon fights with the Phi Thetes, sleeping on the roof of the Beta House, burning Dean Burnside in effigy and the ice wall that someone built on Voorhees Drive.
Which professors influenced your life?
I believe the professors at Carroll prepared me well for Law School.
